Baptist Nassau Administrator Becomes Fellow in American College of Healthcare Executives

Jim L. Mayo has advanced to Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Mayo has been administrator of Baptist Medical Center Nassau since 1994. Before accepting his current position, he served as associate administrator of Baptist Memorial Hospital in Gadsden, Alabama, for 13 years. Before his involvement in hospital administration, he served as minister of Brookside Church of Christ in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Mayo holds a bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies from David Lipscomb College in Nashville, a master's degree in History, a Master of Divinity degree from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas, and a master's degree in Hospital and Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Mayo is past president of the Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach/Yulee Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Nassau County Chamber of Commerce and past chairman of the Board of Micah's Place. He has served on the board of Florida Community College Jacksonville.
Currently, Mayo is treasurer of Elder Source, the area agency on aging, a director of the Nassau County Economic Development Board and a member of the Fernandina Beach Rotary Club. He is chairman of both the Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida and the Rural Hospital Council of the Florida Hospital Association. He is also a member of the Governing Council for Small and Rural Hospitals of the American Hospital Association.
