May is National Stroke Awareness Month
Baptist Downtown Hosts Educational Program on Stroke Risk Factors, Prevention and Treatment
Jacksonville, Florida, May 9, 2007 -- On Tuesday, May 22, 5:30-7:30 pm, Baptist Medical Center Downtown , will present a stroke awareness and education program, "Recognizing and Treating Stroke in 2007," for the community, which will be held at Baptist Heart Hospital, second floor classroom, and in the Jessie Ball duPont Center for Continuing Health Education, Baptist Downtown, lower level.
Led by Sean Orr, MD, medical director of the Joint Commission-certified Baptist Stroke Centers; and the Education Department at Baptist Downtown, the program seeks to increase public awareness of stroke risk factors and prevention, as well as emphasize the importance of seeking early treatment at a medical center with stroke care expertise. The discussion also will include current treatments for stroke.
Guests should meet in the Haskell Lobby, second floor of Baptist Heart Hospital, and they will be escorted to the event. At 5:30 pm, refreshments will be served in the Cardiac Rehabilitation area, along with tours of the area, health education information and complimentary blood pressure screenings. Physician presentation by Dr. Orr will be from 6:45-7:30 pm, in the Jessie Ball duPont Center for Continuing Health Education. There will be a question-and-answer session by Dr. Orr following his presentation.
Free parking is available in Garage B, adjacent to Baptist Heart Hospital. The event is presented free of charge.
