Madeleine Albright Next Lecturer for Florida Forum
Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright will deliver her insights on the current events affecting the United States and the world in a lecture set for 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the Florida Theatre in downtown Jacksonville.
Albright, the first female secretary
of state in U.S. history, also was the first secretary of state to visit North
Korea, which she did in October of 2000. Prior to her appointment as secretary
of state, Albright served as the United States' permanent representative to the
United Nations and as a member of President Clinton's Cabinet and National Security
Council. She has a master's degree and doctorate from Columbia University's Department
of Public Law and Government and was a research professor at Georgetown University,
where she taught international affairs courses and served as director of the school's
Women in Foreign Service Program.
Albright's appearance is part of the Florida Forum lecture series, which benefits
Wolfson Children's Hospital and is produced by The Women's Board of Wolfson Children's
Hospital. A question-and-answer session will follow her lecture. Limited tickets
