volunteer handing out clipboard for paperwork Volunteering at Baptist Medical Center is a fulfilling way to apply your present skills and develop new ones and improve healthcare in your community. Our Volunteer Services department provides a structured program that allows individuals the opportunity for personal growth, education, and service to others. Our goal is to meet the needs of volunteers while providing quality service for patients, families and hospital staff.

What Our Volunteers Do

  • Greet patients, provide directions and/or escort them in the hospital
  • Coordinate communication between physicians and families in surgical waiting rooms
  • Assist staff on nursing units or in Emergency Room
  • Assist Chaplaincy Services with initial visits to acquaint patients with services offered and assist patients and family in the implementation of advanced directives
  • General office/clerical duties
  • Deliver patient mail and flowers
  • Assist patients, families or staff find health-related information using the resources of the Healing Library and the Internet
  • Volunteer from home knitting or crocheting newborn baby caps
  • Assist in our Gift Shops which provide funding for hospital improvement and special patient projects
  • Assist with baby photos in the nursery.
  • Assist in the Cancer Center
  • Customized opportunities for your particular skills and interests
