Jim L. Mayo, FACHE
Administrator
Jim Mayo, FACHE, has been administrator of Baptist Medical Center Nassau since 1994. Before accepting his current position, he served at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Gadsden, Alabama, for 13 years. Before his involvement in hospital administration, he served as minister of Brookside Church of Christ in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Mayo holds a bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies from David Lipscomb College in Nashville, a master's degree in History, a Master of Divinity degree from Abilene Christian University in Texas, and a master's degree in Hospital and Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Since relocating to Fernandina Beach, Mayo has immersed himself in the community. He is past president of the Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach/Yulee Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Nassau County Chamber of Commerce and past chairman of the Board of Micah's Place. He has served on the board of Florida Community College Jacksonville and participated in Leadership Jacksonville 2000 to gain a broader understanding of issues facing Northeast Florida.
Currently, Mayo is vice president of Eldersource, the Area Agency on Aging, a director of the Nassau County Economic Development Board and an active member of the Amelia Island Sunrise Rotary Club. He is chairman of both the Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida and the Rural Hospital Council of the Florida Hospital Association. He is also a member of the Governing Council for Small and Rural Hospitals of the American Hospital Association.
Barbara Gingher
Assistant Administrator, Nursing
Barbara S. Gingher, RN, joined Baptist Medical Center Nassau in 2003 with more than 20 years of proven success in the operation and management of nursing units in both hospital and university/teaching settings. She received her RN from the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pennsylvania, and her bachelor of science/education and master of arts/communication studies from Bloomsburg University, Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. Beginning as a staff nurse at Geisinger Medical Center, her career included numerous positions at the Geisinger Health System, including coordinator of nursing marketing and management development, director of nursing education, director of critical care nursing, director of nursing and vice president of nursing, chief nursing officer.
In 2000, Barbara Gingher came to Jacksonville as assistant vice president of emergency department/trauma/critical care nursing at Shands. Immediately prior to her appointment at Baptist Medical Center Nassau, she was administrative operations director for Pediatric Services of America.
