Our New Inpatient Addition
With community support, Baptist Nassau has built the Berkman Building for Patient Care, a two-story, medical/surgical inpatient
care facility. It houses a new intensive care unit, and 48 private medical/surgical inpatient rooms. These additions increase privacy and comfort for Baptist Nassau
patients and their families while providing a more efficient work environment for physicians,
nurses and staff.
Features of Our Addition
- Every medical/surgical patient has a spacious and comfortable private suite with a private bath and shower; bedside controls for blinds, lights, TV,
Internet and nurse calls; and family-friendly amenities such as day beds and refrigerators.
- Families and friends can visit their loved ones in comfort and privacy.
- The new intensive care unit will accommodate up to eight patients, twice our previous capacity.
- Nurses and medical staff have more working space, which will result in an increase in job efficiency and reduction of distraction.
- More storage space for supplies and equipment will reduce clutter and noise in hallways.
The benefits of this approach to hospital design and patient care have already proven their value in the Baptist Health system. Baptist Medical Center South and the Heart Hospital at Baptist Medical Center Downtown both opened in 2005 with identical patient room design to what is being used for the Baptist Medical Center Nassau addition.
