About Baptist South
Growing Along with Our Community
Baptist South is building a new eight-story patient care tower that will house 62 inpatient beds and an additional 10-bed, level II Newborn Intensive Care Unit. The new tower also will include new labor delivery recovery postpartum (LDRP) rooms and will attach to the current labor and delivery unit in the main hospital. The fourth and fifth floors will be comprised of medical/surgical beds. Part of the new patient tower will be shelled-in space that is available for future outpatient and surgical services growth.
In addition, a new parking garage is being built for Baptist South employees, which will provide patients and visitors with more parking spaces that are close to the hospital and medical office building. Baptist South also anticipates the addition of a second medical office building for new physicians.
Jacksonville's First Hospital of the 21st Century
Baptist Health expanded its circle of care to serve the rapidly growing neighborhoods in southern Duval and northern St. Johns counties with the February 2005 completion of Baptist Medical Center South. Jacksonville's first hospital of the 21st century and a Magnet hospital -- the highest honor a health care organization can receive for excellence in patient care --offers residents convenient access to this full-service healthcare facility at Interstate 95 and St. Augustine Road.
The hospital blends an advanced electronic environment with Baptist Health's holistic mission of providing for the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of patients and their families. Like all Baptist Health facilities, Baptist Medical Center South is a faith-based, mission-driven, locally governed organization dedicated to providing high-quality care for everyone.

New Efficiencies For Patients And Staff
Baptist Medical Center South Campus is the first Baptist Health campus to have electronic medical records. In addition, the staff continues to evaluate ways to further reduce paper flow, including clinical, registration and administrative areas, freeing up staff to attend to more important patient needs.
