As a volunteer, your duties may take you into patient care settings (e.g., delivering mail to patient rooms, escorting patients, etc.). You may be naturally curious about such topics as infection control, hand hygiene guidelines, and safety procedures. We encourage you to get the "inside story" by reading the booklet below that corresponds to the location where you volunteer.
The booklets were prepared for all the staff to use in preparation for visits by the Joint Commission. The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization, and is the nation's predominant standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. The Joint Commission survey team can choose to visit any of our facilities with no advance notice so it is important for staff and volunteers to be prepared.
