Baptist Health Auxiliary Volunteers

volunteer in gift shop Volunteers are special people with large hearts and warm smiles who give of themselves to others.

Baptist Health Auxilians, at all five hospitals, provide time and invaluable assistance to staff, patients, and their families. Thousands of hours are donated annually by more than 1,000 volunteers who give unselfishly of their time and talents. These volunteers also raise significant funds to offset the cost of caring for the area's residents by allowing Baptist Health to offer new services and technology. By spending only three to four hours of service a week, you can be an Active Member of one of Baptist Health's Auxiliaries!! Our members represent all ages and sectors of the community. If you are young at heart, energetic, and want to interact with patients, families, and staff, this is the place for you. Your participation will make a difference.

The program has been designed for those teens with a career goal in healthcare to contribute his/her unique talent and leadership skills. The teens gain valuable work experience by assisting staff in assigned clinical and non-clinical areas within the health center.

The Volunteen Program is open to teens age 15 through 17 and currently enrolled in high school, with a 3.0 GPA. The program operates during summer vacation, with opportunities available during the school year for "returning" teens that have successfully completed the summer program. The Volunteens are easily recognized by their blue golf shirt with the Baptist Medical Center Volunteen logo embroidered on the left chest.

The Program operates on the Duval County School calendar, with mandatory orientation immediately upon the close of the school year. Teens work one full day per week and must make a commitment to complete the 6 or 7-week program.
