BENEFICIARY

Proceeds from the Scholarship Golf Classic provide critical funds for the Professional Scholarship program at Baptist Health. The scholarship program originated in the late 1980s when a group of interested physicians and Baptist Health Foundation developed the tournament, supported by host physicians, community leaders and sponsors, to raise money for scholarships which would address the shortage of skilled nurses. The Scholarship Golf Classic has raised more than $1.6 million since its inception.

While the scholarship program was introduced primarily to support nurse education, its reach has broadened in response to an increased demand for skilled medical professionals in northeast Florida. Today, scholarships are awarded three times annually to students in nursing, pharmacy, radiology technology and other key clinical staffing areas and individuals pursuing professional licensure certification.
