of cancer drugs, and an oncology inpatient unit. In addition, there are numerous support services available, including dietary and nutritional instruction, social services, pastoral services, home health care with visiting nurses, and physical therapy.
BCI provides the following services to help prevent or treat cancer:
Baptist Cancer Institute was the first in the region to offer frameless stereotactic radiotherapy/radiosurgery for brain lesions, and now is the home to the only Gamma Knife Center between Orlando and Atlanta. The Center is also the nexus of a referral hub for total skin electron therapy for a rare lymphoma type known as mycosis fungoides. We perform nearly all the pediatric radiation therapy in the region, and are an approved site for Total Body Irradiation (TBI) for both pediatric and adult patients undergoing bone marrow transplants. We have also pioneered the used of intravenous radioactive medicines to hunt down cancers via the bloodstream.
