Understanding your options is vitally important for you to be able to make decisions. The Baptist Cancer Institute staff is committed to participating in research and to sharing information with you and with medical professionals. Whether it's information about lowering your risk for specific kinds of cancer or explaining various treatment options, the staff will spend time with you and your family to ensure that you have an "expert" level of understanding.

Educational Activities

The educational activities include the development, promotion and delivery of educational programs to both the general public and to the professional community. Through public symposiums, we offer the community opportunities to come to the Baptist Cancer Institute for education on cancer prevention as well as screenings for breast cancer, prostate cancer, skin cancer and various laboratory testing. Throughout the year, the staff of the prevention team is often in the community at various public functions providing information and education.

The educational opportunities for the professional community are aimed at all types of physicians and health care professionals in addition to some directed particularly to health care workers in oncology. Some of our activities include presentations, visiting lecturers, newsletters, video production, tumor boards, and travel to other institutions.
