Johnson is past chief of staff of Baptist Medical
Center Downtown and is a partner in the Florida
Radiation Oncology Group. As a committed
educator, he currently holds an appointment as
an assistant professor of Oncology at the Mayo
Clinic Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota,
and previously held a similar appointment at
Stanford University, California.
Long interested
in clinical research, he has served as a principal
investigator for the Radiation Therapy
Oncology Group, authored more than 30
publications, written research protocols and
patented a medical device used in breast cancer
treatment.
He has served in several leadership
positions at Baptist Downtown, including
chairman of the Institutional Review
Committee (2002-03) and chief of staff (2004-
06). In addition, he has held several positions in
the local unit of the American Cancer Society.
Johnson served in the U.S. Air Force for 24 years
(active duty and reserves) and retired in 1999 as
a colonel and medical center commander. He is
keenly interested in the management of
pediatric and adult tumors of the brain and
spine, as well as breast cancers, prostate cancers
and malignant lymphomas.
