At each stage of development and maturation, it is important to make healthy lifestyle choices and find ways to prevent problems. Getting regular healthcare examinations and learning to identify potential health problems are ways to help you live longer, live better, and live happier.
The Baptist Cancer Institute provides
genetic testing
for several cancers and early detection testing for
prostate cancer
and
breast cancer.
Additionally, BCI offers the QuitSmart program for
smoking cessation.
Prevention Trials
Prevention trials are scientific studies that seek to find better ways to prevent disease in people who have never had the disease or to prevent a disease from returning. These approaches may include medicines, vitamins, vaccines, or lifestyle changes. The Baptist Cancer Institute participates in two cancer prevention studies that involve tens of thousands of volunteers. For more information on these studies, click on the links below.
