The surgical treatment of cancer at Baptist Cancer Institute employs the latest in imaging and operative technique to achieve the highest success rate. When appropriate, Minimally Invasive Procedures are offered such as laparoscopy and sentinel lymph node biopsy. Minimal Invasive Procedures present an alternative to open surgical procedures. Advancement in technology now allows procedures to be performed through a natural opening or a small "keyhole" incision. Minimally invasive procedures promote less pain, shorter hospital stay, and cosmetic benefits for the patient.

These and other modalities are coordinated with the other specialists in medical and radiation oncology. In some instances, treatment before surgery can shrink tumors and a lesser operation can be performed with a higher cure rate.
