Diagnostic Breast Services
When a patient is referred to the Pavilion Breast Center at Baptist Downtown, she can be assured that she is in expert hands. Emergency, urgent and "new problem" diagnostic procedures can be scheduled within one day of a suspicious screening mammogram result, in most cases. At the end of her diagnostic visit, the patient will receive her results from a Breast Health Services radiologist.
In addition, if further evaluation is recommended following a diagnostic digital mammogram or breast ultrasound, the patient will meet with our radiologist, and often with a Breast Care coordinator, so she can have her questions answered and learn more about the testing she will undergo.
In addition to diagnostic mammography and breast ultrasounds, the Pavilion Breast Center also offers:
- Ultrasound-guided core biopsy
- Ultrasound-guided cyst aspirations
- Ultrasound-guided needle localizations
- MRI (for diagnostic and screening of high- risk individuals)
- MRI-guided breast biopsy
- Galactography (ductography)
- Mammography-guided needle localization
- Special procedures for women with breast implants
- Stereotactic core biopsy
- Sentinel node injection and nuclear scan
- PET scan
