Comprehensive Services

In addition to eating a healthy diet, being physically active and being tobacco-free, it's important to take the following preventive steps to maintain healthy breasts:

  • Clinical breast exam at least every 3 years, starting in your 20s
  • Monthly breast self-exam, starting in your 20s
  • Annual screening mammogram, starting at age 40
If you have a family history of cancer, your doctor may suggest a baseline screening test earlier than age 40.

For your convenience, Baptist Health provides screening mammograms at four locations in Northeast Florida - and you can schedule your next appointment with our online form.

Comprehensive resources for cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment

Are you at risk? Some women may be at greater risk due to a number of factors, one of which is inherited genes. To help determine whether your family history puts you at greater risk, request a Cancer Genetic Screening Risk Assessment.
When follow-up testing is needed... Some breast conditions may require additional mammogram views, or other tests such as ultrasound or biopsy. When follow-up "diagnostic mammography" is required to properly diagnose a breast condition or disease, the Pavilion Breast Center at Baptist Downtown offers everything you need for high-quality, rapidly scheduled testing and diagnosis by dedicated mammography specialists.
If cancer is the diagnosis... As a leader in breast cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment, Baptist Cancer Institute offers comprehensive cancer services, research-based care, a full range of diagnostic and support services, in one convenient location. In addition, special clinical studies are offered to prevent the development of breast cancer.

Patients requiring surgical intervention will have the benefit of a registered nurse Breast Care coordinator to help her navigate the many decisions and aspects of treatment. Their goal is to ensure each patient receives the highest level of care, provided in the most convenient and comfortable setting, close to home.

Is it time to consider a bone density screening?

At age 40, discuss with your doctor or nurse when to have your first bone density baseline test. These tests are recommended to help prevent osteoporosis, a progressive disease of the skeleton caused by an imbalance in the body's bone-rebuilding cycle most commonly found in post-menopausal women.

At Baptist Health, bone density screenings are performed at the same four locations as screening mammograms - and you can even schedule these tests together. You can make your appointment request using one of the online forms listed below or you can call 904.202.2222 on Monday-Friday. From Nassau County, call 904.321.3636 to schedule an appointment.
