Women's Pavilion

The Women's Pavilion at Baptist Medical Center Downtown offers some of this region's most experienced medical and surgical specialists, registered nurses and support staff who are dedicated to making your birthing experience a positive one.

The Women's Pavilion at Baptist Medical Center Downtown is known throughout the region for its specialized care, offering infertility options such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), high-risk obstetrics, a number of birthing alternatives, and advanced maternity care.

The Women's Pavilion includes an intensive care labor area for high-risk patients, private labor and delivery suites, private post partum rooms and the Newborn Nursery. Sibling visitation is encouraged.

To make your post partum stay more pleasant, the GetWell network™ is available providing current release movies, and access to your personal email account to stay "in touch" while you are in the hospital.

High-risk maternal and infant care is coordinated by recognized prenatal specialists. They provide clinical management of complex illnesses which place the mother and baby at risk. A specialized 48-bed Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is located immediately adjacent to the delivery room. With Wolfson Children's Hospital on the same campus, families have access to pediatric specialty care if necessary.

Baptist Babies

Baptist Health loves babies and supports families as they begin this very special journey. That's why we deliver more than 4000 precious miracles at our maternity units at Baptist Medical Center Downtown, Baptist Medical Center Beaches, Baptist Medical Center Nassau, and our newest location Baptist Medical Center South.

Your newborn's picture is available for out of town family and friends on our Web Nursery routinely within 72 hours of delivery. Access to the picture is restricted by password and as the proud parent, you decide who sees the baby's photo.

Our progressive maternity care allows you to be with your baby whenever you wish. We welcome and encourage family bonding. Our professionals help new moms and dads by teaching them how to bathe and feed their new babies, as well as offering educational tips through video education. In addition, we offer the services of certified lactation consultants for your convenience and comfort. Patients are urged to call upon our staff at any time.

Patients are encouraged to ask questions about healthcare at any time. We consider a patient's family and friends a very important part of care, so fathers and significant others are always welcome.

Women's Resource Library

General Orientation for New Moms and Dads

Information about the program is included in the Women's Pavilion packet distributed to mothers-to-be by their physician when you chose Baptist Medical Center Downtown, Baptist Medical Center Beaches or Baptist Medical Center South as your baby's birthplace.

Our nurses help prepare you in many ways for your special delivery. We offer expectant moms and dads this single-evening class (adults only) to learn more about what to expect about your upcoming birthing event. The program includes a tour of the maternity suites, pre-admission to the hospital (please bring your insurance card), information on how to register for other birthing and parenting classes, and discussions with our nursing staff about what to expect and how they can best help you. One-on-one discussions with our staff allow you a chance to ask any question you wish so you will be better prepared for your birthing experience.
