Paulo Monteiro, MD, is a nationally known leader in neurosciences who has pioneered the advancement of minimally invasive neurosurgery in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.

Monteiro is a graduate of the School of Medicine, University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Monteiro completed his internship in internal medicine and his neurological surgery residency at Rio de Janeiro University Hospital. He served his general surgery internship and residency at Wayne State University, The Grace Hospital, in Detroit, Michigan.

In addition, Monteiro completed a neurological surgery residency at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore and received further training at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the National Hospital, Queen Square, in London.

Monteiro is a diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons.
