Pastoral Care
Since the inception of Baptist Medical Center in 1955 and the addition of Baptist Health services, Pastoral Care has been a part of the healthcare team.
Our Staff
provides support with the spiritual and emotional aspects of the healthcare experience. The Pastoral Care department assists the health system to provide the community with holistic treatment of body, mind and spirit.
Begun in 1980, Baptist Medical Center and
Wolfson Children's Hospital
provide
Clinical Pastoral Education
(CPE) training for theological students, parish clergy, graduate degree candidates, and selected laypersons.

Pastoral services include the following:
- Supportive care of patients, families and staff
- Crisis and grief ministry/24-hour in-house on-call
- Bereavement/Grief counseling
- Worship, prayer, and religious rituals
- Accessible range of multi-faith resources, e.g. priests and rabbis
- Daily routine Pastoral Care and counseling in assigned units
- Religious literature and audiovisual resources
- Community Education
- Ethics committee representation and consults planning for patient care
- Interaction and mentoring CPE students and volunteers
- Support Groups in selected areas
- Special event and memorial services
