To keep abreast of the county's expected population growth of 30% within the next 10 years and doubling by 2030, in 2003 Baptist Medical Center Nassau embarked upon a massive, three-phase expansion program.
- Phase One, completed in early 2004, added 22,000 sq. feet to the existing structure. Included in this project were five new emergency department treatment rooms and a new ambulance entrance, new kitchen and expanded dining areas; relocated clinical laboratory, enlarged environmental and support services areas and adjoining loading docks.
- Phase Two will renovate and expand the medical imaging department and build out a new gastrointestinal surgical suite.
- Still in the planning stages is Phase Three, which will focus on an expanded medical-surgical inpatient wing. New intensive care beds are being included in this project, targeted for completion in 2007.
